Guidelines for Oral & Poster Presentation

Guidelines for Oral Free Paper Presenters (8th COSC 2018)

  1. Presenters are required to prepare a 7 minutes PowerPoint presentation and there will be a 3 minutes discussion with the judges/moderators after each presentation.
  2. The presentation should include:
    a. Title and authors’ information
    b. Introduction
    c. Objectives and method
    d. Result
    e. Discussion
    f. Conclusion
  3. The presenting author must be a registered participant.
  4. Use a plain background without patterns or dark colours.
  5. Use clear headings and leave spaces between sections.
  6. Pictures and graphics should be clearly labelled and described.
  7. Pictures and graphics should be of good quality.
  8. Text should not be obscured by images.
  9. Do not fit too much information on one slide.
  10. Top 3 oral presentations will be selected.
  11. Prize presentation will be held during the Meeting (time will be advised) for top 3 oral
    presentations.
  12. Please send your Power Point presentation slides to abstractcoscukm2018@gmail.com no
    later than 12th September 2018.
  13. The file should be not more than 5 MB.
  14. Presenting authors should check the Power Point slides at Speaker Ready Room in the venue
    before the presenting session, and get ready in the venue of free paper presentation 15
    minutes before starting of the session.
  15. Your free paper abstract will be published in MJM supplementary unless otherwise requested
    in writing by the presenting author no later than 5th August 2018.
  16. Failure to present your accepted abstract(s) at this meeting will result in blacklist from
    presenting at subsequent conjoint meeting unless the authors submit reasonable excuse in
    writing.

Guidelines for Poster Presenters (8th COSC 2018)

  1. Language- UK English only.
  2. Poster size not more than 900 mm (width) by 1500 mm (height) in portrait orientation. This is to ensure that your poster fits well on the poster board.
  3. The size of the text should be readable from 1 meter away.
  4. The Poster must be brought to the Meeting, ready for display.
  5. Registration for Poster presenters is on 14th September between 8am-5pm, and 15th September between 8am-9am (before opening ceremony). Presenters should put up their posters during this allocated time only.
  6. After registration, please proceed to the Poster venue to get your Poster Number (which may be different from your Unique Number) before putting up your poster. Material for putting up the posters on the display board will be provided.
  7. The top 10 posters competing for best poster award will be announced after the opening ceremony. The presenting authors of these 10 posters will be required to be at their poster board (time will be advised) to answer any questions from the judges.
  8. Prize presentation will be held during the Meeting (time will be advised) for top 3 poster presentations.
  9. Posters should be on display from 15th-16th September 2018. Please remove your own poster at the end of the Meeting on 16th September 2018. Any posters left behind will be discarded.
  10. Your poster abstract will be published in MJM supplementary unless otherwise requested in writing by the presenting author no later than 5th August 2018.

Guidelines for Electronic Poster/E-Poster Presenters (8th COSC 2018)

  1. E-posters should consist of a maximum of 6 Microsoft PowerPoint slides, including:-
    – Title and authors’ information
    – Introduction
    – Objectives and method
    – Result
    – Discussion
    – Conclusion
  2. E-poster may include text, figures, tables and images BUT NO video/animations.
  3. Selected e-poster can be viewed anytime during the conference.
  4. A specific time slot will not be required.
  5. The presenting author must be a registered participant.
  6. Use Times New Roman or Arial fonts.
  7. Font should be no smaller than 18 points.
  8. Maximum of 120 words on each slide.
  9. Use a plain background without patterns or dark colours.
  10. Use clear headings and leave spaces between sections.
  11. Pictures and graphics should be clearly labelled and described.
  12. Pictures and graphics should be of good quality.
  13. Text should not be obscured by images.
  14. Remember that simpler posters are more attractive and easier to read.
  15. Do not fit too much information on one slide.
  16. Correct spelling and punctuation make your e-poster more attractive and informative.
  17. The file should be not more than 5 MB (more than this size, it will be rejected automatically)
  18. Please send your e-poster to abstractcosc2018@gmail.com no later than 21st August 2018, e-poster received after 21st August 2018 will be rejected.
  19. Your e-poster abstract will be published in MJM supplementary unless otherwise requested in writing by the presenting author no later than 5th August 2018.
  20. Failure to present your accepted abstract(s) at this meeting will result in blacklist from presenting at subsequent conjoint meeting unless the authors submit reasonable excuse in writing.
